The following costs, inclusions, exclusions, refunds, cancellations,

conditions and requirements apply for those wanting to join a

Quiet Heart Pilgrimage to India!

REQUIRED: To be eligible for consideration to join a Quiet Heart Pilgrimage to India! it will be necessary that the devotee:

  • Is a practicing SRF/YSS Kriyaban

  • Agrees to all of the Conditions and Requirements covered in this section of the website

  • Agrees to be timely in payments

  • Agrees to be timely in responding to emails, in providing requested preparation information, and in completion of preparational activities

  • Must have basic email and print-out capability. All preparation interaction is by email only; phone communication is for actual voice calls as needed; texting, faxes, and scans are not used.

RESERVATIONS: Acceptance to join a Quiet Heart Pilgrimage to India! group is at the discretion of the pilgrimage coordinator. To reserve, interested pilgrims must first complete the Application Process by email. See the "How To Apply" section for full Application Process details.

After the application is confirmed the devotee will receive a Reservation Packet by email which includes a Getting Started document, a Medical Statement form, a Liability Waiver form, and a Payment & Refund Policy. Hard copies of the signed forms must be returned via "snail" mail. (U.S. Postal Service)

PAYMENTS: Payments are generally made in three installments; a deposit, payment #1, and payment #2, made either through PayPal or by check. Sorry, credit cards are not accepted.

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS: Regarding cancellations for any reason: no refunds will be given after the pilgrimage start date. Once a deposit is received, a minimum of $500 is nonrefundable. Please email for the current Payment & Refund Policy for all other refunds given for amounts received over the $500 nonrefundable deposit.

INNOCULATIONS & TRAVEL INSURANCE: Pilgrims are strongly encouraged to see a Travel Doctor to be counseled on recommended shots, health precautions, and travel insurance. Note that the travel doctors have a duty to explain potential problems and shots available, however, the responsibility for Traveler’s Insurance and the choice of shots and medicines is entirely up to the pilgrim. (I get the shots according to my intuition (using reason & feeling), and I prefer to take the once a week Malaria pill.) The India government does not require visitors to have any shots.

ASHRAM ACCOMMODATION: The YSS ashrams require that their guests be on time for meals and services, that they wear their Guest tag, and that they abide by the Ashram Guidelines.

CLOTHING: Female pilgrims are required to wear modest Indian dress. This is highly respected by the Indians and is viewed as a sign of respect for their culture. It has an incredible impact on how we are received and treated while there. YSS ashrams also make this request of visiting female devotees. Arrangements will be made on the first day for shopping. Instructions will be given on how to wear and navigate gracefully and comfortably in Indian Garb. Gentlemen must refrain form wearing shorts and tank tops.

COMING AND GOING: Your escort will be with you only for those pilgrimage dates while in India. Any departures from the itinerary for any reason will be the sole responsibility of the pilgrim. No refunds or credits will be given for any reason after the pilgrimage start date.


Included prior to arriving in India: In-depth customized individual preparation and planning guidance, Pilgrimage Countdown Calendar, email access to your escort for any pilgrimage-related questions you may have before departure.

Included while in India: all meals, snacks, Indian transport, portage, accommodations, porter tips, taxes, entry fees. An American SRF/YSS member and Kriyaban disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda will be at your service as your escort in India. All accommodation is on Twin Sharing Basis in ashrams, paying guest homes and/or hotels. (Single Supplement will apply if no roommate is available or desired.)


NOT included: International Airfare. This will allow the use of a credit card and/or frequent flyer miles for airfare. (However, Brenda will assist you in arranging proper flight itineraries if you want, and oftentimes she is able to get you the very best airfares. Whether or not Brenda helps you with your flight plans, please be sure to confer with her about flight recommendations and making appropriate fight coordination arrangements before you book your ticket.)

Also NOT included: Travel insurance, Indian Visa and passport fees, etc., any departures from the itinerary, any medical or emergency care, escort gratuity, expenses of a personal nature (phone calls, laundry, cyber fees, gifts, extra ashram or temple donations, flowers, medicines, etc.) and any other expenses not specified as included above.
